Sometimes the hardest journey isn't toward a new destination. It's the road back to a place we thought we'd lost forever.

Maybe you made a choice you regret. Maybe shame has convinced you that you've used up every opportunity to begin again. Or maybe you've spent so long trying to prove yourself that you don't remember what it feels like simply to be welcomed.

In Luke 15, Yehoshua tells of a son who demands his inheritance, leaves home, and wastes what he has been given. When life collapses around him, he decides to return—but he no longer expects to be received as a son.

He prepares a speech. He rehearses his failure. He plans to ask for the lowest place.

Then comes one of the most tender pictures in Scripture: while the son is still far away, his father sees him and runs toward him.

The story does not call the son's choices good. It does not pretend the consequences were imaginary. But it reveals a father whose compassion is bigger than the speech his child has prepared.

We often imagine repentance as an endless performance of shame. Yet the turning point in this story is simple: the son rises and goes home.

That doesn't mean every earthly relationship will be instantly repaired. Trust may take time. Some responsibilities remain. But we can turn toward Yah without waiting until we have manufactured a perfect version of ourselves.

If you are standing on that road today, there is no need to invent a grand speech. Begin with honesty. Name what was wrong. Seek forgiveness. Make what you can right. And take the next step toward the Father rather than farther away.

The road back may feel long, but the first movement is a turn.

May Yehovah give us the courage to return, the humility to change, and hearts able to extend mercy to others as we have received it.

Glory to Yah in Yehoshua's name. Amen and amen.
