Some mornings we wake up already tired.

Yesterday's problems are waiting. The unanswered questions are still unanswered. The calendar has moved forward, but the heart feels as though it is standing in exactly the same place.

If you've had mornings like that, you are not alone.

Lamentations was written in the shadow of profound loss. It is not a collection of cheerful slogans. Its words were shaped by grief, devastation, and the sight of things that could not simply be put back the way they were.

And yet, in Lamentations 3:22–23, we find a remarkable declaration: Yehovah's compassion is not exhausted; His mercies are new every morning.

That truth is more meaningful because of the darkness around it.

New mercy does not mean yesterday never happened. It does not mean that every wound has healed before breakfast or that tomorrow is guaranteed to be easy. It means that today's troubles are not the final measure of our Father's faithfulness.

The sun rises over complicated lives. It rises over people grieving, people searching for work, people trying to repair relationships, and people who have quietly reached the end of their own strength.

A new day invites us to do what we can with what we have. We can speak kindly to someone who needs it. We can ask forgiveness. We can breathe, pray, work, rest, and begin again when we stumble.

Perhaps your victory today won't be dramatic. Perhaps it will simply be choosing hope when despair feels more familiar.

That's still a beginning.

So take the day before you as a gift to be handled with care. Bring the burdens you cannot carry to Yah. Notice the small mercies. And remember that a difficult chapter is not necessarily the end of the story.

May the Father meet us with wisdom for this day, patience with one another, and gratitude for another morning of mercy.

Glory to Yah in Yehoshua's name. Amen and amen.
